Video Presentation and Collaboration

Bring More Than Just Your Brain into the Video Conference Room

Interactive Telepresence provides the ability to reproduce and distribute all forms of collateral for use in the video conference.

During the course of an in person meeting users may want to exchange information using various types of collateral including:

  • Pre-printed documents
  • Ad hoc drawings/sketches on whiteboards or paper
  • Handwritten notes
  • Computer generated images, presentations
  • Annotation of pre-printed or ad hoc documents
  • Web-based collaborative tools
  • Pre-recorded audio or video presentations
  • DVD / VCR playback or recording – local room only
  • DVD / VCR playback or recording – local and remote
  • Document camera integration

Teliris offers separate options for Video Presentation and Collaboration:

Video Presentation

Presentation allows for display in the local video conference room and remote location of PC based presentations. The goals in an Interactive Telepresence environment are as follows:

  • Provide total and equal access to information
  • Ensure ease of use (“Plug in the laptop and go.”)
  • Deliver high level of quality regarding viewing/reviewing materials
  • Create a sense of “sameness” regarding the user experience (e.g., putting a screen on the side of a room so that when participants in a multi-point meeting are going through it, it appears as if everyone is turning their heads in the same direction to view it)

The VirtuaLive™ Presentation System allows meeting participants to bring a presentation on their laptop and plug it into a cable provided in the video conference room table and display a presentation in all locations. From a security standpoint, this means that the video presentation stays on the laptop and does not have to be downloaded to a central server or onto an Internet document sharing service. When the presenter is done, they unplug their laptop and the presentation stays on their laptop. Confidential information stays under the control of the presenter.

Collaboration

Besides the basic presentation sharing system, VirtuaLive™ rooms can be equipped with a large array of collaboration interfaces and in-room specialized presentation systems:

  • Whiteboard functionality
  • VirtuaLive™ Lectern that allows a distant presenter to be seen on a screen behind a lectern
  • Media editing suites that allow multiple sites to work on animation, film and music editing
  • Connection manager to allow for one click connection to other VirtuaLive™ sites
  • Display and annotate any PC–based document(s)
  • Whiteboard functionality
  • Specific PowerPoint enhancements
  • Security module
