Teliris Telepresence Technology

Delivering a Depth and Breadth of Expertise in Telepresence: Success is in the Details

To move beyond the limitations of conventional video conferencing technology, we had to assemble a completely new set of skills and talents. Beyond a core team of peerless technical experts, our experience has proven that the optimal team has to demonstrate a remarkable array of practical talents--the critical ability to apply that technical insight in a real-world context.

Depth of Technical Expertise

To be the first company to bring Interactive Telepresence to the market, we had to be the first team to solve knotty issues on a number of technical fronts:
  • Latency: The ability to minimize telecommunications lag and deliver a genuine sense of "being there"
  • Vectoring: The creation of a uniform spatial geometry across multiple remote locations
  • High-Quality Audio/Video Delivery: Adhering to the ultimate standards--TO DVD and high-definition (HD) quality video presentation and True Duplex sound.
  • Reliability: Allowing the environment to become an integral part of your business, by removing the constant question "Is the room going to be working?"
We are proud to have pioneered the ability to coordinate such a disparate set of disciplines into a seamless whole. Simply put, the technical demands of Telepresence set a very high bar for any company, and automatically creates a very small pool of credible vendors.

Breadth of Practical Experience

Delivering a Telepresence environment that can truly replace in-person meetings takes more than a mastery of the underlying technology principles or the creation of an industry leading product offering like VirtuaLive™. As part of our telepresence installation process, we work with you to determine:
  • Environment Design: The creation of a tasteful, dynamic meeting-room environment that is consistent with your office design, and perfectly suited for either face-to-face or remote meetings
  • User Experience: Facilitating an experience that removes all sensation of a "remote" meeting
  • Automated Scheduling and Working Practices: When people walk into a meeting, the last thing they want to do is to deal with how to turn on the technology. From the time that a meeting is scheduled through the VirtuaLive™ Portal to when people actually walk into the conference rooms, we ensure that all of the technology has been pre-tested, preconfigured, pre-connected and that working processes have been followed. Working practices can include a "Meet and Greet" hand-off by our operating centers to warning notices on the displays related to remaining time for the meeting.
Each customer has different cultural habits and etiquette related to the way that people interact in meetings. To ensure that multi-site telepresence meetings create the right environment for people to meet, for decisions to get made and for collaboration to occur, we have developed an underlying scheme that helps us work with you to ensure the best result out of your telepresence environment. We call this scheme our FACT framework that guides our activities from product development to specific client delivery of VirtuaLive™ to our fully managed service delivery. Collaboration and communication do not just happen. In the case of distance meetings enabled by telepresence, they happen when the dynamics of the meeting enable people to focus on ideas and issues rather than the technologies they are using to discuss those ideas and issues.

The Teliris FACT Framework

Teliris' FACT framework is tightly mapped to managing "Distance-Influenced Interaction." It is about developing the best products and delivering flawless implementation and ongoing managed services to ensure that the VirtuaLive™ systems satisfy our standards and, most importantly, enable you to include people in meetings when the meeting is needed rather than when it is convenient for people to travel to a meeting. Your company will only do this if the technology provides a highly dependable cost effective "being there" experience. FACT is a practical framework to solve telecommunication and collaboration issues in the real world.

“Focus”

We have a very tightly defined business model. We are the leader in the Interactive Telepresence space. We are the “Being There” Company. We have a comprehensive list of standards to ensure that any Teliris solution we create satisfies these standards. We will not “dumb down” these standards to capitalize on broader spheres of business opportunity. We do not have to, as the solutions we provide satisfy one of the most pressing needs for global businesses today.

“Achievability”

We are now delivering our fourth generation solutions. Throughout our product development we work towards one objective: create products that will be highly reliable and deliverable anywhere in the world. We have delivered our video presentation systems across the globe and provide the same level of managed service whether the system is in a conference room in Sydney, New York, Beijing, London, Paris, Singapore, Mumbai or. . .well you get the point.

“Commercial Viability”

Technology that is not affordable, scalable, measurable and flexible is a luxury at best, and a grave mistake at worst in today’s business environment. We create the only commercially available set of Interactive Telepresence solutions which provide a true feeling of “being there.” That can be matched to a diverse set of needs and support more than four simultaneous locations.

“Transparency”

This is the Achilles heel of the legacy videoconferencing world. Technology so obtrusive, so unwieldy, so ill–conceived that it becomes “the thing in the corner.” Gathering dust vs. gathering value. Forcing the vast majority of distance-influenced interactions to occur in the most primitive forms-email, phone, etc. Transparency has been one of our key principles from the onset. A Teliris VirtuaLive™ solution is designed to facilitate high–quality interactions over great distances, rather than getting in the way of them. This is another area where we have raised the bar (and, by doing so, the expectations of the clients who purchase VirtuaLive™ systems and services).
